I'd like to know this too. I have no idea about general phoneme frequency within a language, but I read a very interesting article concerning phoneme frequency *across languages*. http://www.eskimo.com/~ram/phonology.html And especially this chart: http://www.eskimo.com/~ram/segmental_phonemes.png For the world's 25 major languages, the author suggests that following phoneme set lets more than 22 languages have each phoneme (I think I will use this set in some future project :-) p b t d k s l j m n a e i o u (if x is allophone of h, it can go in too) Seo Sanghyeon
