Only in Germanic languages, though. Portuguese has "vermelho" for "red" and "amarelo" for "yellow", for instance, both basic colours. And we have no problem forming words from them: "amarelar", "amarelado", "avermelhado", "vermelhecer"... João Ricardo Oliveira
