actually, being a language without a history, the spelling is a reliable
compromise between grammatical function and pronunciation . . . if you
think of h and n as diacritics rather than letters ( they always follow
the letter ) and y and w similarly after vowels ( ambiguity in the
transliteration here . . . they can also be full consonants ), it's
pretty phonetically accurate, at least for high register speech ( ie
that which distinguished voiced and unvoiced nasals, nasal semivowels,
and the weak l, which is usually silent but should be pronounced rather
like the /uj/ ( nearest approximation to the IPA ) semivowel ).

letter in

capitalisation is me thumbing my nose to the germans (?!) . . . it
occurs only on verbs. It indicates the main sentence stress. Verbs are
derived from nouns in this way.
