Its midnight, and I'm seriously into work avoidance here, so I thought I'd
actually contribute something...
Since various people have been sharing color terminology with the list, here
are the Kelenj color terms and the English meanings. No one has to guess this
time.
astaja ultraviolet
celna clear
cora sky blue
ejka brown
endeja rust
haja sea green
ilba hazel or flesh tone
loja yellow
malja green
nela red
neunja pink
nuyla unripe green
olna gray
raela whitw
sheha black
siwja infrared
sura orange
tasha purple
tiela lavender
unga blue
woula tan brown
The -a ending means these are all adjectives, though they can also be used as
nouns.
As for animal names, since Kelenj is spoken by a non-human people on some
other
world than this one, they wouldn't have words for our fauna. Unfortunately, i
never got around to figuring out in detail what the Kelenj fauna are. But,
I've
come up with the words:
arnae
This is a large animal with big teeth, maybe a bear equivalent
cies
some sort of ubiquitous pest
emen
a canid? wolf? dog?
etume
a large flying creature that steals children at night (unless they're at home
in bed where they're supposed to be.)
hath
some sort of annoying flying thing
ilye
a spider equivalent
irele
a felid or a mongoose equivalent
kilweryn
a flying thing that preys on ciesh
tue
a small delicate flying thing
Those are the ones that I have some idea of what they are. Then I have a list
of words that sounded good to me, but...
alunne
amse
canre
curre
eil
eith
haere
hawre
hadmar
ijtere
kerthe
kekwin
lieme
mawath
malte
noresh
shethre
sorden
toshen
timse
thuw
ulre
wolen
Any help in figuring out what kind of creatures these are would be
appreciated.
