No, wouldn't work. /aj/ --> /e/ --> /E/, and also /@/ --> /E/, so /aj@/ --> /e@/ --> /E/. But, it might work for other persons: /ju/ --> /y/ --> /i/ /ju@l/ --> /y@/ --> /iE/ --> /jE/ /hi/ --> /i/ --> /e/ /hi@l/ --> /hi@/ --> /eE/ --> /ej/ (same with "she", but with /S/) /It/ --> /Et/ --> /&t/ /It@l/ --> /E?@/ --> /&?E/ --> /&j/ --> /ej/ /Dej/ --> /de/ --> /dE/ /Dej@l/ --> /de@/ --> /dE/ /DEMal/ --> /d@mal/ --> /nal/ --> /nO/ [they had become 3rd singular epicene, so "them-all" was invented to stand in for plural] /DEmal@l/ --> /d@mal@/ --> /nal@/ --> /nOlE/ /wi/ --> /we/ /wi@/ --> /weE/ --> /wej/ /jal/ --> /ja/ --> /jO/ /jal@l/ --> /jal@/ --> /jOlE/ So, homophones in first person singular and third epicene, I suppose that's not too bad, as well as between 3rd masculine and 3rd neuter. -- "Old linguists never die - they just come to voiceless stops." - anonymous http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/Conlang/W.html http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/Books.html ICQ: 18656696 AIM Screen-Name: NikTailor
