It doesn't surprise me. IIRC, all the languages of this part of Europe seem
related by neighbouring. Whether it is Modern Greek, Bulgarian, Romanian,
etc..., they all share features that make them rather different from other
languages of their respective families. I read that it showed how important
can be neighbouring effects in languages.
Doesn't Bulgarian also mark the future tense with 'I will' like in Greek?
