Yes; I think the confusion occurred because my original posting was just
meant to offer a minor "improvement" on Christian's suggestion; and I think
you took me to be advocating an English spelling reform based on a phonetic
transcription of American English pronunciation, which was not even on my
mind. I don't think it was Christian's intent, either, although his
transcription scheme clearly has that look to speakers of British English.

Understood, and no offense taken. I was just a little bewildered trying to
discover what you were objecting to. I think I've got the picture now, and
have no hard feelings whatsoever.
