Maybe it's because this name is a Northern German variety of Christian (at least I was told so). On the one hand, Christian is /"krIstja:n/ in Standard German (that's indeed /"kRIStja:n/ in the South*), and on the other hand, in the region beyond Hanover you don't have [St] and [Sp] anymore in onsets for <st> and <sp>. C. *) When we have lived at the Swiss border people there called me /ka:Stn=/ as well
