Well, not useless. Just unsatisfactory. Imagine it's an ancient,
written language of a long extinct alien race that left nothing but
written texts, including some texts talking about the beauty of the
sound of their language.
It is still unsatisfactory not to be told by a conlanger that this is
the conhistory, of course. :-) At least, that would be some information.
And further, in this case, I assume that this *is* the conhistory.
