It would be interesting to have a font-rendering system that can distort
characters based on contextual information, for rendering a visually
appealing approximation to cursive english, arabic calligraphy, or chinese
calligraphy for example. Current contextual font rendering systems are at
the level of kerning and ligatures; they don't distort individual glyphs.
A programmable Input Method Editor would also be cool, but I don't know if
that's a sufficiently novel project. How novel does it have to be?
