Back when I was less normal (heh) I taught myself to read and write
boustrephonally (woof! is that word?) in English. I wanted to see if I
could read faster that way. The answer? No. To recognize a word's
backward spelling took just about as long as to flick my eyes to the other
side of the page. I suspect, however, if I had stored two configurations
in my little brain of each word, it would be faster.
