And what is the word for "Europe" in those languages? Are the first
four letters of the word the same as what you gave as the name of the
currency?
Incidentally, I was a bit dismayed to learn that the Japanese call the
currency "yuuro" -- I was expecting "yooro", based on the name for the
continent (Yooroppa).
And in Turkish-language newspapers in Germany, I've also seen "euro",
rather than "avru" < "Avrupa".
So much for etymology.
