It came from Greek _kuklos_ or _kyklos_ "circle".  A very bad rendition
of the same.  Sounds like some sub-human caveman trying to talk all
high-falootin' to me.  The distinctive robes and tall pointed
hat-masks, which are usually but not always white, show their
cowardice.
