Conlang sighting in Mother Jones

The July/August issue of _Mother Jones_ has an article about the linguist
William Shipley and his work on Maidu [a native language of California].  It
says, "Languages came easily to him—as a child he used to invent his own, a
pastime his father considered a sign of impending lunacy. "
