I was pleased you sent the file. I don't have a copy of the book. I read it
many years ago in the room of the old British Library where one reads
under supervision (i.e. being watched); it's the room where such things as
pornography must be read [meaning "for x, x is a thing such as porn, if
x is read in the library then it must be read in this room", rather
than "room such that what you must do in it is read porn"], but possibly
the reason that the Left Field vol was restricted was that it had fallen
apart (crap binding, I think, rather than being overread). It's an excellent
book, as anything McCawley had a hand in inevitably is.
