Apologies to Dirk. I wasn't out to disparage anyone's usage, but the
affirmative-anymore does seem to elicit a reaction of "bleah" or "wha?"
among speakers east of the Mississippi (John Cowan, I believe a New Yorker,
is doing his own thing).
Having run into areas in linguistics class where it was definitely *my*
idiolect, I wanted to see if this had a little more currency than uptight
Wellesleyians from hell.
Keep posting, Dirk. I'll still cringe, but what can you do? You're still
from out west;) ;)
