Hiya Gary,
Before giving up totally on your rather neat mutant English perhaps
you should look at how English-lexifier pidgins and creoles are transcribed,
how creolized pidgins have their orthographies. Tok Pisin is one of the most
famous "mutant Englishes" and has plenty websites that go in-depth.
Also websearch _English_ and _Spelling Reform_ ... there are many
ideas and proposals out there that are quite intriguing and some look like good
conlang/mangalang inspirations.

And don't forget the infamous Berlitz language guides' clunky, ugly
version of transcribing phonetically... i.e. French phrase _idée force_ = _ee-day
forse_; German word _Zwischenraum_ = _zvish-ehn-rowm_...

And never aim for perfection & expect it - it's impossible, like
AuxLangs, any ways... best is to aim for it & be content with "imperfect perfection".
Besides imperfections have more possibilities ;) and that is what makes
us Higher Primates such an intriguin' (& frustratin') species, right?

    Hope I have inspired ya...
