Yeah. Most of our pure vowels are shifted up compared to their RP values.
'aw'/'or', f'rinstance, is /o:/, or 'er' /2:/(ish, not quite that front)
(one notable exception is that /el/ has become /&l/, so that 'shell' and
'shall' are homophones). American /E/ (which I think is lower than RP)
sounds very close to my /&/. Diphthongs often move in the opposite
direction (ei > &i), the notable exception being oy, which is more like
/oi/ (inline with /O:/ generally becoming /o:/).
