That is strange! Well, I have been listening to a lot of Brahms lieder
lately... More likely is that there are (by coincidence, definitely not
historical influence) characteristics of New Zealand
consonants/vowels/intonation that bear a similarity to German. I was
actually trying not to sound Kiwi but the accent does seem to have a
pervasive quality that carries through to other languages!
