> What caused Friday to be considered the first day of the week?
In Islam, Friday is the day that prayers are offered. Just like many Christians
consider Sunday as the first day of the week (thus our calendar arrangements,
with Sunday being the first day on the row), and many Jews (although not me)
consider Saturday to be the first day of the week. Then there's the rest of us,
to whom Monday will always be the first day. :)
