Senyecan has the following basic words for metals and minerals:
âlµon = tin [µ = m_0]
aûson = gold
âyon = copper
çüitônon = limestone, chalk [çü = ts)_w]
gêfson = gypsum
hüâlon = crystal
lemûron = zinc [r = 4_0]
lôson = loam, clay
molîîvdon = lead
nâfton = petroleum
ooßûron = silver [ß = dz)]
ômïon = bronze [mï = m_j]
ôngon = coal, carbon
pîcon = pitch, bitumen, asphalt
qêlhon = iron [q = j/; h = j_0]
sâmÞon = sand
süêlpon = sulfur
hêlnon = glass
ßîson = quartz
And the following compound words are found:
àlercüêrpon = hydrogen, lightest-gas
àylemûron = brass, copper-zinc
cupcênïon = potassium, boil-ashes
çilôndon = slate, layer-stone
dàànooßûron = mercury, flow-silver
ertôngon = peat, earth-coal
iscôndon = mica, transparent-stone
muulvêson = oxygen, plant-exhalation
nèlemôndon = diamond, not-break-stone
nòòrðalôndon = emerald, noble-green-stone
nòòrmelôndon = sapphire, noble-blue-stone
nòòruuðôndon = ruby, noble-red-stone
-ûron is a suffix for naming metals:
lemûron = zinc, break-metal
ooßûron = silver, shiny-metal
ßüerûron - magnesium, bright-hot-metal
Now I have something else to occupy my waking moments: translating
the periodic table, at least the more common elements!! But then,
increasing my lexicon is my favorite part of conlanging.
