This should have gone to the list.

Interesting! This reminds me: after studying a little Etruscan
history, I've recently been considering a conlang based on an
alternate history scenario in which the "long march" campaign
of Vulci, Volsinii, and Clusium in ca. 525 BC was successful
against Cumae. The result: Lars Porsenna makes the Etruscan
league into a genuine political unit, not just a club of
common religious interests. The generations after him carry
on his political campaigns, eventually uniting Italy, defeating
Carthage, and basically taking on the role of Rome in at least
the Western mediterranean. It would probably actually be a group
of conlangs whose ancestor is the actual Etruscan of Lars Porsenna's
time. One of the problems, of course, is that most of our current
knowledge of Etruscan consists of spell formulae and such, so I
might have to be more creative in coming up with basic vocab and
grammar.
I've also been thinking about actually doing some work on C'|ali,
whose only presence right now is in loan words in Phaleran. So,
I hope to post some of this to Conlang as things develop. (My classes
start on Monday, so I might not have much time.)
