While I am not qualified to have an expert opinion,I agree, but that may just
be because I have read the book Japanese and Other Altaic Languages (I may
not have the title quite right--I can't locate my copy just now) and I have not
read an equally
detailed argument for the other side. Also, I learned Japanese after learning
Korean, and
there seemed to be a strong similarity between the two languages in terms of
the basic grammar (though not the obvious verbal similarities in, say, IE
langs) , and geographically Korean seems much more likely to be linked to Altaic.
