Nice to see an opinion from the opposite of the spectrum.
I think it's most important that we recognize that there are two factors to
consider, _ease_, emphasized by "phonemic minimalists", as Basilius would
call them; and _renderability_, emphasized by Basilius (Basil?) himself.
Personally, I seek some sort of moderation; I want the phonemic inventory
to look fairly natural, i.e. not overly large and not too sparse either.
