Heh, I've tried to self-teach it to me two years ago. My
parents still have "teach-yourself steno"-like books from
the courses in stenography they had to take at university.
Indeed it looks some kind of ugly. I think it's not thought
to be beautiful looking, it's only thought for being able
to write as fast as possible. And as it seems, you can
write incredibly fast with it.
