Not entirely true. Some dialects of Japanese use a drop in pitch. The
main difference is that tone must be marked on every syllable, while
pitch-accent need be marked on only one syllable of the word (at most -
some languages have predictable pitch-accent, just as stress-accent may
be predictable)
