True, however, much of the world is also preoccupied with skin *tone*. For
instance, in both Mexico and the Philippines (and much of asia), it is
considered very good to have a light skinned child. Skin lightening creams
are popular in both countries, and dark skinned people are considered
usually lower class, or at least "rural". Some Filipino (and i've even
seen Korean women around town do this) women walk around with umbrellas to
shade themselves from the sun.
