The Faithful Ones believe in The One True Faith. Their religion is
animist-Monotheist. It is essentially monotheistic, but there are
elements of animism mixed in. I've been reading about old Scottish
customs, mixing ancient Druid beliefs and Christian beliefs. Perhaps
something similar is behind the Faith, a mixture of an ancient animstic
belief with a newer monotheisic belief. There is one Goddess, the
Creator of All. Under her, there are a great many spirits and
angel-like beings. A central belief is in the Forces and Balances.
There are four triads, consisting of a Positive Force, a Negative Force,
and a Balance. The triads are Life/Death/Life-Death;
GoodLuck/BadLuck/Luck; Good/Evil/Morals; Love/Hate/Relations. These are
not in their traditional orders. It is believed that certain
individuals are born with a greater capacity for the positive forces, or
for the negative forces. Also, these forces tend to attract each
other. Life-Death and Luck are "inherent", while Morals and Relations
can be controlled. If one uses the negative forces, hate or evil, they
"attract" the inherent forces, in other words, if you commit evil, you
diminish your capacity for good luck, and increase it for bad luck,
meaning that bad luck will happen. Also, you will be drained of Life,
and filled with Death. Life naturally seeps out of you, and death may
seep in. Death can be expelled from the body, but Life cannot be
restored. The loss of Life is Aging, and the gaining of Death is
illness. When Death exceeds Life, you die. It's basically like Karma,
do evil, evil happens to you, except that it's not viewed as punishment,
but just as the natural way of things, just as if you are careless in
making a boat, it may sink, not from punishment, but from your own acts.
Of course, not all of Luck and Life-Death are viewed as a result of your
own action. Evil spirits hunger for Life and GoodLuck, and if they can
strike at anyone.
There are also Laws enforced by the Goddess.
I have not worked out what those are, nor any of their myths.
