Sally, the software I use is called CoolEdit2000. It
will save recordings in a wide variety of formats,
including MP3 with various degrees of audio fidelity.
One can also do all sorts of editing and tweaking of
sound files with it-- far more capability there than I
understand or have use for.
However, it's not freeware, and it's not cheap. I
believe I paid something like $70 for the basic package,
a couple of years ago.
