i think there are free programs that can be downloaded that can convert
wav to mp3, and windows media player can copy cd tracks to mp3s.

i hope to record some samples as soon as i get sound working on my
computer [1].
[1] either find drivers for the onboard sound [2] or get a new sound card
[2] stupid compaq presario's hard drive died [3] and i don't know what
drivers i need to get for the stupid thing. i had to put in a new
graphics card to get anything better than 640x480 16 color...
[3] and incidentally, the hard drive in this stupid thing is inside a
metal box that has way too many screws holding it in and i had to take
the power supply out to get to two of them...
this is fun! i wish i'd thought of this! i usually use nested
parentheses instead of footnotes. "))))))))))" doesn't look that good
anyway...
