The alternate Earth where Franj is spoken never
divided up the huge Argo Navis constellation into
Vela, Carina and Puppis, and I suspect that many of
the Southern Hemisphere constellations have a more
"classical" feel, rather than being things like
"clock", "air pump", "petrol station" or whatever. I
need to look into this.
Incidentally, the Franj universe also has some
different common names for some of the planets: our
Mercury is known as Apollo, Saturn is called by his
Greek name Chronos, and the transSaturnian planets are
all different: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are Oceanus
(after the world-circling river of the ancient
Greeks), Hades and Nox.
But I do need to look into the constellations of the
Southern sky.
