--------------- The coincidences mount! I, too, only recently introduced the consonantal root-classification scheme into Ithkuil (about one year ago). It was the 2nd-to-last change I made on the language prior to posting it on the web (the last change being a complete revision of the number system - the root structure of numbers used to be centered on the prime numbers, but it was just too unwieldy). As to whether it's common, I don't know. To me, it just didn't make sense that the rest of the grammar was so interrelated and matrix-like, but the actual root-consonsants were so arbitrarily assigned. So I decided they needed to fall into semantic classes. Once again, convergent ideas produce similar results! By the way, in all our discussions, I failed to congratulate you on S7. Impressive! The similarities here and there to Ithkuil and Telona only serve to illustrate we're all on parallel thought wavelengths in our approaches to "engelangs." --John Q.
