How Platonic! IIRC even Rome admits Filioque was an addition. I suspect
Ray considers it a matter of linguistic interface...
Interestingly there is a similar controversy WRT to the status of incarnate
(as opposed to the merely reborn) beings vis-à-vis the Enlightened Ones
they are incarnations of. Some claim there is total identity, others that
the relation is one which in western terms could, I suppose, be called
hypostasis. The Dalai Lama himself describes it in English thus that he is
an ordinary man, but his soul is divine. I might argue with the wording,
if not with the intent -- who would I be to do so?
