Sort of. There *are* diacritical vowels, but they're usually omitted as
in Hebrew.

I actually have two silent letters, but they're for writing initial
vowels or vowels in hiatus. To represent diphthongs I use the script's
equivalent of 'w' and 'y', then use other characters for actual /w/ and
/y/ after vowels . . . it gets rather complicated.

I'd think the opposite. The change of h > 0 has got to be one of the
most common sound changes in the world.
