Diphthongs in one (horisontal) is shown by a line going above the
vowels in it:
-\/-
aiaiai
Ancient, badly updated page:
http://taliesin.nvg.org/taruven/symbols.html
(falling, rising, two vowels with hiatus)
In the other (cursive vertical), the block of vowel + vowel leaves
the main area and runs parallelly with it:
/-ai
+-----+ai
ai-/
- or - a line to the right for falling, line to the left for rising:
(if I remember correctly)
__
aiaiai

Similarly ancient, needs updating:
http://taliesin.nvg.org/taruven/sketches/cursive.html
A third (vertical non-cursive) lacks diphthongs :)
