I thought Polish was invented by a Scrabble-player who
decided that the letters w, k, y, z would be worth
only 1 point each. This guy was probably living in a
country where there were lots of flies, because they
left plenty of various and strange diacritic signs on
every possible letter.
As to the sound of it, it is very similar to
Portuguese when you stand 3 meters away, and to
Russian when you come closer.
