Okay, I think that I've decided on some basic aspects of the syntax and
grammar of this Proto-Conlang.
* Basic word order will be Subject-Verb-(Pronoun)-Object.
*Pronouns, however, will follow the Verb.
* Adjectives will follow their Nouns.
* Genitives will follow their Nouns.
* Relative Clauses will follow a Relative Pronoun their Nouns.
* Nouns will follow their Prepositions.
While I wanted to avoid inflection at this stage, I think that system that
compounds verbs with pronouns is prudent for allowing Pro-Dropping. No
pronoun is necessary in Third-Person sentences that have an actual Subject
that is not a Pronoun. In Third-Person sentences where the subject IS only a
pronoun, it will not be added to the verb, but precede it as with normal
subjects (the reason should be obvious when you scroll down some).
Since I grew up always associating the base form of a noun as including
article (be it a, an, or the), and with the base form of a verb as including "to",
all nouns will be given in the form of "a NOUN" and all verbs will be given in the
form of "to VERB".
First rudements of vocabulary:
I/me - `weh
thou/thee - key`
we/us (exclusive) - kweh (a merger of key` and `weh at an earlier stage that
behaved somewhat differently than this stage of the language)
we/us (inclusive) - hwe (another merger and severe degridation of
redubplicated `weh at an earlier stage that behaved somewhat differently
than this stage of the language)
ye/you - keyk (another merger and severe degridation of redubplicated "key"
at an earlier stage that behaved somewhat differently than this stage of the
language)
a person - hey`
this - ker`
that - ser`
what? - der`
this person - hoykr`
that person - hoysr`
who? - hoydr`
to be - `er`
