That's basically the attitude of people around me; some actually ask "And do you communicate in it?" and I usually say "No, but I've made up three million people who communicate in it."

Aarrrgh indeed. Lots of people seem to think that that's the reason for making up worlds and languages. If you happen to know that they also make something for a hobby you can ask them whether that's their reason too: "and do you knit because deep within yourself you don't like existing knitwear?" (That said, I started baking bread because I couldn't find a good enough bakery).
