Hey you guys.
Today at lunch I came up with the pronominal paradigm of one
of the dialects of Rinya. This made me realize that I probably
should do something about the horrible forms of standard Rinya
as well. But for now, here are the dialectal forms (OLD is
"standard" and NEW is "dialectal"):
Some pronunciation rules:
¨ = nasal: i -> [I] ; ï -> [i~]
ä = nasal [&] -> [&~]
stress is always on the nasalized vowel: [I'mi~] [Y'ti~]
1SG 1PL
OLD NEW OLD NEW
AGT imin imï ymin ymï
PAT im ï ym ÿ
DAT imenya mä imeinya meï
LOC iminte mït ymijnte mij
ABL imumbe mÿb ymumbe müb (no umlaut in ABL.PL for some reason)
2SG 2PL
OLD NEW OLD NEW
AGT lin lï lyn lÿ
PAT li li ly ly
DAT lenya lä leinya leï
LOC linte lït lijnte lij _or_ lynte - lÿt
ABL lumbe lÿb lumbe lüb
3SG 3PL
OLD NEW OLD NEW
AGT utin utï ytin ytï
PAT ut ut yt yt
DAT utenya tä yteinya teï
LOC utinte tït ytijnte tij
ABL utumbe tÿb ytumbe tüb
In summary:
1SG 1PL 2SG 2PL 3SG 3PL
AGT imï ymï lï lÿ utï ytï
PAT ï ÿ li ly ut yt
DAT mä meï lä leï tä teï
LOC mït mij* lït lÿt/lij** tït tij*
ABL mÿb müb lÿb lüb tÿb tüb
* [li] and [ti] by older people [lEj] and [tEj] by younger speakers
** 2PL.LOC archaic _lÿt_ [ly~t] or _lij_ [li] (older people) or
[lEj] (younger people) as opposed to 2PL.DAT [lE~j~] which is
nasalized and used by all.
