FWIW, my experience is that artistics and humanistics types tend to prefer Macs,
whereas maths/science/tech types tend to prefer Windows, Unix and/or Linux.
The maths dept. here runs entirely on Windows and Unix, and among the computers
available to students on the maths/sci/tech half of the campus, there is one
(1) Mac, against dozens each of Windows and Unix machines.
