No, it's stressed on the antepenult. It was just another example of
an -opolis city, since Roger was looking for a list. It wasnt an
example of one stressed weird. Although when I was a kid and first
started reading Superman comics, I argued with my parents that it
should obviously be pronounced [mEtro'poliIs]... no idea where the
extra syllable came from... :)
