Yes, because it's a melting-pot writing.  Been incorporating characters from
other conlangs and natlangs, don'tchaknow...

Actually a side-language or two had to get made up so this could happen, though
I'm not really sure which came first.   These languages aren't complete and
don't have names or even a real vocabulary, just ideas to them.  Some of the
characters are from the very first version of the writing (circa 1986), and some
are more recent (early 90s or so).  They're actually still evolving, though not
really "changing".  It'll look fine before you know it.  It occurred to me that
it's probably the graphical characters (forgive me, I know there's an actual
word for these but it's forgotten me right now) being mixed in with the phonetic
characters that's throwing people off - some of the characters actually
represent whole words and they usually look different from the "letters".  The
symbol that looks like "//" (roughly), for instance, means velú ("day"), and
signifies sun rays.  It would seem a misfit, I think.

And it is...  I used to just have a childlike drawing of a sun, but it clashed
too much with the pronoun symbols.

A few are, but most are actual characters in themselves.  I think it's a little
easier to make it all fit together that way.
