Gevey can do compliment clause structures, but will often abandon them
in favour of adding the "I know that", "you see that", "we will like",
"she enjoyed", etc bit as an infinitive verb:
--> I know that the dog caught the ball.
~g> te secase
~e> I[s] know[v]
~g> eft tuusrhe yuu laep kaptate
~e> that[conj] dog[s] ball[d.ob] caught[v]
or
~g> tuusrhe yuu laep kaptate secan
~e> dog[s] ball[d.ob] caught[v] know[inf.v]
Similarly:
--> I know that this gossip had finished
~~> te secase evd yuu telaa doscisem glaa suatate
~~> yuu telaa doscisem glaa suatate secan
People might find the extension of the idea to these sentences
interesting, as they differ to the way things are done in English:
--> I swim in the river
~~> vihjuu dhount lugzhase te
and
--> I like swimming in the river
~~> vihjuu dhount lugzhase te tokan
--> I swim across the river
~~> mavyuu dhount lugzhase te
and
--> I prefer to swim across the river
~~> mavyuu dhount lugzhase te vijan
Vocabulary:
dhounuu (yuu dhount) - river
tuusrhe (ye tuusehrh) - dog
doscismuu (yuu doscisem) - gossip
laebuu (yuu laeb) - ball
mavyuu - across the
vihjuu - in the
kaptan - catch
lugzhan -swim
secan - know
suatan - finish
tokan - like
vijan - prefer
eft / evd - that
glaa - cessation
te - I
telaa - this
