Haha! It was the only word I learnt for it at school. However, these things seem to be named differently very much in many coutries. The standard German word is '(der) Kuli' short for "(der) Kugelschreiber" ('ball/sphere writer'). But in the Saarland where I currently live, they seem to exclusively use '(der) Dauerschreiber' ('permanent writer'). I never heard that before either.
