Betadine, I think.

I can't resist delurking again for this :)
[context: English, medical profession]
Dettol: When I was a child, this was our household antiseptic of
choice - orangey indeed, but a *clear* liquid, although cloudy when
mixed with water (that always seemed odd). I can't remember exactly
what the active ingredient was - chlorhexidine? - but it is/was very
much a household thing. (Name presumably < 'detox-' + '-ol' ... but
that's a guess.)
Dettol is a major nostalgia-thing from my childhood,
along with Vosene shampoo etc.
Betadine: Dark brown, *opaque*, fluid basically consisting of a
solution of iodine, used by me at work to clean skin in preparation
for sticking things through it. A completely different smell from
Dettol, and I'm not sure whether you can get it for household use.
[Sorry for such an egregiously OT post - but work on Telona's going
slowly ... I'm negotiating with my agents about my patients :))]
Jonathan.
