From Mark Twain's "The Awful German Language" I would have expected
German to be worse than French.
When I had to make a personal choice between learning Italian and
French, I chose Italian because a) it's easier b) Paolo Conte isn't
French c) I hadn't heard that spoken colloquial Italian was like a
completely different language from the literary language :)
