I think I made a similar suggestion a while back -- I was thinking along the
lines of "natlang", a list for discussion of natural languages (and how they
relate to our conlangs). Or perhaps a "conlang2", with a more chat-like open
forum, where the original "conlang" is more formal and more strict concerning OT
posts.

Personally I don't mind the off-topic discussions as long as they don't go way
too far from conlang matters: one time years ago we got in a big discussion
about heavy metal bands. I remember that well since I've played in a couple-plus
not-so-successful such outfits.
