When I work remotely, I have to use this really old version
of "elm" (a mail program) that isn't Y2K-compliant, and thinks
this is the year 100. Your system is probably converting this
date to 0 internally, which is a synonym for "midnight Jan 1 1970 GMT".
Offset to your present timezone, it winds up in late 1969.
