Well, my Romance language Reman has no copula either, the Latin copula has
evolved there to become strictly the auxiliary for imperfect aspect. But Reman
is a strange Romance language anyway, which is so far from other Romance langs
that it has to be considered as its own group (a little like Sardinian), and is
thus certainly not a Western Romance language :) .
