I do remember name changes to American movies in Great
Britain. A movie about a child-star-cum-talent-scout
was called "Life with Mikey". The title refers to a
cereal commercial in the States. The lack of cultural
context in the UK forced a name change to "Give Me A
Break" (which, conversely, wouldn't have worked in the
US because that is the name of an old and completely
unrelated TV show).
There was another movie called "Adventures in
Babysitting". I guess the title sounded odd, I don't
know, but they changed it to "The Night of Our Lives"
(blander but closer to the plot).
